On this day, May 21, 1799, one of the pioneers of paleontology was born in England: Mary Anning.
Although she became a celebrity in her field, she was not given the recognition she deserved during her lifetime, as was the case with so many other women throughout history.
In 2010 she was recognized by the Royal Society as one of the ten most influential women scientists in British history.
Here I give you a glimpse of its history.

Here is a video about Mary de la huge Raquel de la Morera. In his own words:
Mary Anning was the first paleontologist in history, and a key figure in understanding the evolution of species. In this documentary video in Spanish I tell you the biography of Mary Anning, on whom the film is based Ammonite, starring Kate Winslet.
Yeah!
And here I leave you another video about Mary's life, in English but with subtitles in several languages—including Spanish. Very entertaining to watch and with a couple of curiosities that I didn't know, like that Mary is the girl who inspired the phrase “She sells sea shells by the sea shore,” scourge of English learners, especially Spanish speakers, for years.
I hope you have enjoyed it.
Kisses, enjoy the weekend! ????????
